Research Experience
Research Assistant in LSU Spoken Language Processing Lab (Spring 2012-Present)
Volunteered at least 2 to 3 hours a week, assisted in the formatting of experiments using E-PRIME software, edited sound stimuli for experiments using Adobe Audition, administered and scored standardized assessment tools, screened hearing of all participants, recruited and scheduled participants, and met every other week for meetings.
Independent Research Project (Fall 2012)
Instigated independent research project, collaborated with Dr. Brittan A. Barker on a study examining talker-specific speech perception in toddlers, wrote "Literature Review of the Effects of Multiple Talker Information on Speech Perception Across the Lifespan" to prepare for study, collected and edited auditory stimuli in Adobe Audition for experiment, and aided in design of experiment using E-Prime software.

Served as assistant clinician to therapists providing therapy to preschoolers with autism and language delays, took observation notes on clients, recorded spoken utterances to calculate Mean Length of Utterance (MLU), administered and scored standardized assessments, trained in using Picture Exchange Cards (PECS) with nonverbal children, kept inventories and replenished supplies, and kept clinical rooms cleaned and prepared for other clients.
The Brighton School (Fall 2012)
Provided intervention twice a week to middle-school-ages children with language learning disabilities and dyslexia, prepared and lead lesson plans focusing on building reading comprehension skills, took individual observation notes on each student's improvements and struggles, recorded agendas of therapy sessions, brought supplementary reading materials each week, and administered a pretest and posttest to assess students' abilities.

Involved in LSU chapter of NSSLHA, collected items to donate to local program like Head Start and Pediatria, particpated in walks and other fundraisers to benefit speech and hearing research and services, and attended monthly meetings.
