New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center
Over the summer, I volunteered seven hours a week at the New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center doing many different types of activities. I assisted with clerical work in the front office and restocked the supplies of standardized assessment materials. My favorite experience was my work in the Language to Literacy Program held at the center. Six children between the ages of 6 and 10 years attended the program, and as clinicians, we focused on improving the phonological awareness, auditory processing, and language skills of the students through reading and vocabulary building exercises.
